I was using my old computer and all of a sudden it just turns off. It felt very hot. I tried replacing my power supply and it still won’t turn on…any takes on it? Could it be a burnt cpu?
did you check the cpu’s fan? sounds like your cpu over heated and shut down and now it’s damaged. Intel chips don’t get damaged as easily as AMD… AMD cpu’s are easily damaged by heat. Check the cpu’s fan make sure it works and make sure there is good contact between the heatsink and the cpu…
I confirm the behavior. Intel is far ‘stronger’ against heat than AMD… 
Have you checked your cables ? On some older systems it’s easy to mix up those ATX power cables if I remember well. Today, those two separated connectors are phisically connected, so no chance to mix them up…
Second thing you should check - Did you reset CMOS ? Take a look at your motherboard’s manual under RESETING CMOS… it’s not big deal, you just have to turn your system completely off (unplug the power cable), and then remove CMOS battery… after that you just have to follow instructions in your motherboard’s manual on how to set those little jumpers to reset your CMOS. Be careful and follow instructions exactly as they are in manual !
Heat Could have damaged a number of things. If you have an Intel motherboard and a Pentium II Processor or newer you can download a program called Intel Active Monitor. It alerts you when your temprature goes above safe limits.

I never found a ‘optimal’ temperature/voltage range to set. Do you know more? :-\
By defauly It will not let your System Temp (hard drives, CD ROM DVD Rom area) go above 120 degrees F
And it will not let your processor go above 170. If it does it will stop all running apps and display an alert.

I used it in the past but each time the system ‘hibernates’ it tells that there was a ‘voltage’ problem… It was annoying and I gave up. Does this occur to you?
Yes I dot a voltage problem about once a week (Version 1.1.x), I reported this to intel and they responded saying it would be fixed soon. (it only affects certian computer models)
version 1.2 seems to have fixed it for me

I had a pc fail just recently. The power supply was the reason. It was replaced and still the pc would not boot up. Found out that due to the bad power supply there was something wrong with the Mother board etc and not sure what else. Needless to say that pc for me is history. I kept the inside of the pc cleaned of dust on a regular basis, made sure my muffin cooling fans were always cleaned and working. All connection type cables were routed correctly. I made the decision not to spend the total money involved to fix this machine and just had a new one built instead with all new technology compared to what I had lost.
