how do I configure firewall properly
should I click home or public, i read home leaves 12 ports open and public 0, someone help me configure it please

First of all, avast! Internet Security 8 does not monitor the network profile assigned in Windows to your network connections. Therefore you need to manually configure the profile assigned by avast!: Home, Work or Public.

On the other hand, the firewall protection being provided is average and the suite’s effectiveness in securing the system is hindered by its default configuration. In order to receive a good level of protection, users need to do quite a bit of additional configuration, take plenty of decisions and compensate for some of the shortcomings of this suite.

The Public mode is more secure, but if you need to use a printer and you are using a home WPA2 protected network you can use home profile.

PS.: The work profile is the default profile and it is the optimal setting. :slight_smile:

Public blocks ALL incoming connections. Its the highest security setting for Firewall. :wink:

avast! Firewall has more configurations and it’s integrated into the security software that you trust.
Windows Firewall does not conflict with avast!
Both are very good.
