Confikr worm

Recently there has been an issue related to konfikr worm…which many anti-virus software are unable to detect…
Do avast home edition 4.8 able to detect?
If not then what are safety measures to protect my pc from it?

I believe Avast does detect at least two (and probably all) of the variants, but have no first hand experience of this ;D
The way to protect your computer against this (and many other threats) is to make sure it is up to date (Windows, and installed software.)
Specifically, the patch for the vulnerability that conficker exploits was made available in October 08.
More info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962007
A basic test to see if you are likely to be infected here: http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/infection_test/cfeyechart.html
A tool that claims to remove the infection http://www.bdtools.net/
Also suggest disabling autoruns for USB devices, as this is another way it can spread. Also can spread if a computer on a network is infected.

thanks a lot…

If you have problems with Conficker, try using BitDefender Conficker removal tool, or McAfee conficker removal tool, or perhaps Sophos Conficker removal tool. Even Microsoft’s Software Malicious Removal Tool detects Conficker.
If you need more information how to remove Conficker read this article http://www.pcterritory.net/2009/03/bitdefender-downadup-removal-tool.html and download if you want. We surely can bit Conficker one way or another.

stay safe
