Conflicting threat indications

I have conflicting indications at the end of my weekly full system
scan . The result page from Avast Antivirus shows “threat
discovered” . Clicking on “show results” produces nothing .
Checking scan history for this day, December 25th, shows no
threat discovered. Which one to believe? Screenshots available .

Any advice?
Ken

If I remember rightly there was something relating to this in the forums - e.g. clicking the show results after a threat detected in the scan.

So I’m unsure if this is or isn’t a bug.

You could check the scan report file (somewhat different to the scan history) and see if there is anything in the report file.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\Full system scan.txt XP location.
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\Full system scan.txt Vista or later OS location - this may be a hidden location C:\ProgramData, so you may need to change the windows folder options.

The order of the report is the most recent entries are at the bottom of the file.

A bug in both Avast 9 & 10

As stated, the “logs” are the true test/result.

There is no “Full System Scan.txt” file in that folder. aswBoot.txt, EmailShield.txt, FileSystemShield.txt, WebShield.txt

I should mention I’m using Windows XP Pro SP4.

That is where it is (the location I gave for XP) in my XP pro system - that however, does depend on you having elected to ‘Generate report file’ in the Full System Scan settings.

Found the box and checked it.

OK, now you will get the report file in the location previously mentioned, but it will only start from when you enabled it.

Understood. I intended to do a full system scan last night but forgot. I will try to remember to do it tonight . Thanks for your help .

You’re welcome.
