I am a new Avast! user and just did a full system scan for the first time apart from when I first downloaded the software. No infections were found, thankfully, but there were a bunch of files that were not able to be scanned. The reason given for every single one of them was, “Error: Archive is password protected”. All of the files were Adobe Flashplayer 10 files. I don’t even know how to password protect my archives and am not sure what this means - why they are protected, or where to find my archives.
I wasn’t sure what action to take. There were no suggestions on the log. The choices from the drop down menu: Repair, Move to Chest, Delete, Do Nothing - First, I don’t know what the “chest” is or what that does? Next, what if I delete them…will this delete my Adobe Flashplayer from my computer? Does this point to a possible issue (virus?) within Flashplayer that isn’t getting detected because somehow they (the virus) protected the files from being scanned?
As you can see, they can’t hurt you till they are actually usable and at that time, avast! would intercept an scan the file before it’s actually used.
The virus chest is where infected files are stored and from there can’t hurt you.
