Congratulations...Avast wins WebUser's Gold Award!!!

I got hold of WebUser’s latest issue yesterday(issue 178) and featured there is Avast winning the Gold Award for Best Free Antivirus besting AVG and Comodo Antivirus. BitDefender and Avira AntiVir are way behind in their review. Congratulations to team Avast…goodluck and more power!!!

Who did gave avast the gold award?

I think it is a review (Gold Award) in this magazine Tech (latest issue) http://www.webuser.co.uk/magazine/current.php

Avast’s free antivirus tool is packed with features. As well as real-time and on-demand protection, it can check your computer for viruses before Windows loads(although this feature isn’t available for Vista), scan incoming and outgoing emails and analyse files downloaded using file-sharing and instant messaging programs. The Network Shield defends against internet worms and if you accidentally try to download an infected file, the Web Shield will spot this before it’s even on your computer. This shield can also be used to block specific web addresses. If a virus does somehow get into your system and wreak havoc, Avast’s Virus Recovery Database(VDRB) will attempt to repair damaged files using integrity information gathered previously.

Features=5-star, Performance=5-star, Ease of Use=4-star, Overall=5-star!!!

One thing the magazine didn’t mention is Avast’s ever reliable and friendly Forum which for me is another winning feature that other Antivirus don’t have. I’ve done the rounds going from one antivirus to another and this forum always wins it(supposing all features of other antivirus are equal…which is not).

Also Boot scan is indeedd available on Vista (even though they say it’s not…).

Yes but you have to remember that CAVS3(comodo antiviruspsyware ver 3)is coming out very sooon and then we’ll see who switches and who dont, I know for a fact that i am… lol

I"m not impressed by this new Comodo product. You can’t be both an effective antivirus and antispyware, one must suffer. 8)

It’s far from being gold… also, the bad experience with firewall stability and compatibility made me thought a little bit more about Comodo products…

Hi Tech,

Cannot say a bad word about Comodo BoClean anti-malware. It is a good product next to avast.
Here my scan report:
09/09/2007 18:38:18: LEAKTEST 1.2 DEMO VARIANT STOPPED BY BOCLEAN!

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\POLONUS\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES\CONTENT.IE5\OCDZGCLB\LEAKTEST[1].EXE contained the trojan.

i love comodo’s firewall (ver 3) w/ Defense Activated
Also their BOCLEAN, it’s perfection also when I"m behind my Cisco ASA 5500 I’m probably the most secure person in grove port(city)… …I’m waiting for CAVS…
they are making BOclean and their CAVS together…I think
also I think this is what its going to look like…

No other Firewall is better then CFP3
Also they are working on Comodo Memory firewall (Memory protection) http://www.memoryfirewall.comodo.com/

Soon they’ll have a remote desktop connection

then they can Rule the World!!

We’ll have to see how they do…

Well, it’s OK for me for the Comodo firewall and BoClean but to say that the “will be” Comodo antivirus will be better than AVAST is to think “Magic”. After all, AILWIL has put more than 10 years of work and energy in AVAST and you can’t make an antivirus be the best from one day to another, especially if you were not even born then…

well…unless you have a different technique but still probably you are right…but just give it couple years or months and it will be up there with avast
