Connection Attempts Continue After Cure

I’ve followed through on related threads for a similar issue, but it hasn’t been able to clear everything up yet. The machine seems to have a whole bunch of issues and is very cluttered, but the main issue is that it 1) comes up with a blocked connection attempt at startup, and 2) fails to connect to our network.

I tried running a variety of antivirus programs and have now run through the process detailed in this similar thread.

I was originally getting a connection attempt to this url: hXXp://85.195.92.11/

Now I’m getting the same type of issue, but with this url: hXXp://239.255.255.250/ which is apparently some kind of SSDP Plug and Play IP (Microsoft support link).

We run F-Secure here, which is denying the connection attempts. I’ve run Avast!, OTL, MBAM, TDSSKiller, and HiJackThis. I “cured” a TDSS File System, then deleted it through F-Secure when the program continued to prompt me about it. Logs are attached for each report. I’m attaching the TDSS log separately, since I had to split it up in 2 files for filesize and this won’t let me upload 5 files at a time.

TDSS log attached. A lot of threats found in this report. It’s not letting me attach the whole thing. The first half is there.

Hi first I would like you to re-run TDSSKiller with the following settings

Download the latest version of TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop.

[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Thank you for the reply essexboy. I had somebody run TDSSKiller and OTL and send me the logs, as I don’t have access to the machine today. I’ve attached them for you, but it looks like the OTL log is from the Run Fix process, and not the Quick Scan. Also, it came back with

Unable to set value : HKU\S-1-5-23-1417001333-152049171-1202660629-1199\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\\ProxyOverride| /E!

I’ll post another reply as soon as I get more info on it.

I will need the TDSSKiller log as the last one posted showed remnants and I wanted to confirm that they were gone

Tomorrow, or whenever is OK by me ;D

Recent TDSSKiller log attached. It was too large again, so I cut out all of the lines that were similar, saying that each suspicious object had been skipped. None returned malicious, none were cured or deleted.

Sorry if that TDSS log isn’t what you need. I got a reply back from the guy who ran these and rebooted:

Yes, it was Run Fix, I will run quick scan now. It is not connecting to the network though. Timing out on the DHCP assigning an address. It did try to connect but it was different. It stated it was inbound with no specific IP. Weird?

The “It did try to connect…” refers to the connection attempt denied by F-Secure.

OTL Quick Scan log attached. Thanks again for your help.

\Device\Harddisk0\DR0 - detected TDSS File System This is what I was looking for as sometimes a copy is left behind

Lets check out the networks now

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Flushing and resetting DNS and proxy fixed the network connection problem. No more errors, no more known issues! Thank you so much for your help essexboy. This was incredibly helpful and saved me a lot of headache.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
