Connection Cut Out

I was helping two friends on two different laptops with getting a better Anti-Virus program (either they didn’t have it or the subscription went out) and I went to put Avast Free Home Edition 4.8 on.

When it downloads the Setup.exe, it takes a LONG while, and then tells me afterwords that the connection was cut and that it’s retrying.

I ended up not being able to install it after 2-3 trys.

Would anyone know why Avast would be acting up like this?

It shouldn’t.
I think it’s better to download the full setup (setupeng.exe) in the desired language (than the on-line setup of a few bytes that downloads the other files).
For sure it downloads quickly depending on your Internet connection speed.

I feel that the on-line installation is a very bad option.

Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall. Ensure that you scroll down and select the avast direct download link for the English version or language of the user and not Cnet as that is for an on-line installation (not what you want to do).
