connection not established in the update

It’s Firefox Update 61, they included TLS 1.3 and Avast still uses TLS 1.2 ! See https://www.ghacks.net/2018/06/27/firefox-61-fix-secure-connection-failed/

Deactivate “HTTPS-Scanning” in “Avast Settings” → “Web Shield” will fix the Problem!

Hi, we are working on a fix, will be released later today.

As a workaround, you can temporarily disable TLS1.3 in firefox settings.

  1. In the address bar enter about:config
  2. Search or scroll to security.tls.version.max
  3. Change the value to 3

Done.

This will limit the TLS version to 1.2, the default for Firefox previous version and other browsers at this moment. I’ll update here when an Avast fix is ready. Undoig this configuration change is easy as well, just follow the same steps and change the value back to 4.

Thanks for your reply.

To be fair about this, topic was hijacked back on reply # 19 and conversation took off in a different direction - :frowning:

I’m thinking you are using a VPN service to appear as in USA when you are not. As Asyn said, your true location, China, may have everything to do with your issues but you should tell us what your true location is; - you never did.

In fact, there has been a pattern of omitting key facts such as your OS and other things that we need to know to help you fix your issue present throughout your thread, and imo is you’ve been a little less than forthright about resolving your issue(s).

Why you chose to do that I cannot say.

I did not use VPN. I am now in the US.
The other laptop which never left US while I was in China for a vocation also has the problem.
Both of the laptop are Win 10 Home.
Both of the laptop have Avast Free edition.
Is there other information you need?

I told you on the #14 that I am now in the US.

Problem resolved.
I did a lot of research.
Finally, I just restore Windows Firewall settings to default and reset network, and then restart my computer.
The problem resolved at last.
