Hello folks. I recently reformatted and installed a fresh version of Avast home. The Avast program keeps popping up the little window and it usally reads something like this:
Avast has timed out waiting on
host142.maxim.net:25
Continue waiting?
YES or NO
When I come home from work there could be 10-15 of these pop ups on the screen.
I have never seen this before. Any idea what is causing it or how to stop it?
Uninstall and new install didn’t help.

The message almost certainly says explorer.exe not IE Explorer.
The reason you are seeing the timeouts is because your system is infected with an email spambot that is sending out spam emails using your system constantly and avast has detected that it is maintaining an email connection outbound for an excessive time.

I feel certain you are right (I was going from memory and I am getting old).
Thanks for the link. It must be a bot I moved off the hdd and then back on after the format.
