Win XP with Outlook
Is it possible the connection timeout is causing an outbound E-Mail with lare attachment to remain in the “outbox”?
This process seems to repeat until the E-Mail is deleted from outbox or sends within the timeout period
Is there a way to disable timeout
Thanks

You can extend the timeout in Outlook (or is it OE ?) and in avast rather than disable that warning.
Example for OE, perhaps it is similar in MS Outlook:

I’m not sure how of if you can extend the avast timeout in the Outlook/Exchange plug-in as I don’t use Outlook.

If you use the Outlook plugin of avast! then the Internet Mail scanner will not be involved in your email activity on Outlook.
The only timer that will be active then will be the timer in Outlook itself.

I’m having this exact same problem.
can anyone point me in the right direction for this Avast! Outlook extension?
If not, is there anyway i can disable Avast! scanning my outbound mail (we have 3rd party mail scanners anyway)?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Let’s do a quick double check.
Are you using Outlook (not Outlook Express)? If so which version?
Which operating system are you using (WinXP, Win2000, WinMe etc.)?

You should be able to to find the avast Outlook/Exchange provider by double clicking on the avast (blue ball) icon in the system tray.
If you enable this provider, and Outlook 2003 is your only mail client then you do not need to have the avast Internet Mail provider active on your system.
The other alternative about which you asked:
avast Internet Mail provider > Customize button > SMTP tab > uncheck “Scan outbound mail” box > OK > OK
