I am new in posting in the forum and I have a question, well an issue, about the connectivity issues I deal with when using Gmail while using avast. This has been an issue that I’ve been having for the past four months. When using Gmail, I get a message saying that there is a connection issue error 007 and I have to reload the page every five minutes to even read an email. After troubleshooting on different browsers and checking my extensions and plug ins, I found out that the problem has been with Avast.
I currently use Avast Premiere and when I disable the product, I have no issues in using my Gmail accounts, I don’t receive any error messages, and the connection remains consistent. It only happens on Gmail and no other email clients and I have no issues with browsing the internet. I only face this issue with my Gmail work and personal accounts.
This is a fairly new problem as I have had no other issues with using Avast and Gmail together so I would like to know is there a fix to this issue, is there a workaround without me having to disable my avast protection while using my Gmail accounts?
Not sure what browser he is using but I’m using Explorer. Same issue. I can’t send emails from Gmail as long as Avast is active. As soon as I disable it, the email is sent.
Strange, I just received a call today from someone wanting to know why the signature is not appearing even though it’s selected.
One mans poison is another mans cure…
I don’t know, I don’t have it activated. To me it implies a false sense of security since that type of
signature can be superimposed by many things including malware.
Have anyone ever recived a mail from somone that said “avast scanned this mail and it was infected”
No, if it was infected avast would not let you send it, so any mail you recive is clearly not detected by any mail scanner on the way so that signature is not needed
The AV scanner on my Fastmail account will tell me that it has deleted a mail from (mail adress) and it was deleted because it contained a virus.
Telling me something is detected when it happens is much more usefull then telling me that evry mail i recive is not detected
This works! Thanks so much for the heads up.
Client had this problem today and I could only fix it by disabling Avast shields temporarily. Logging into her Gmail acct via my laptop with Avast was no problem. Compared all security settings and found no discrepancies… hmmmm. A search found this thread and, sure enough, her Avast settings/general “signature” box was checked and mine was NOT! Had to laugh that it so obscure a fix. At least client thinks I’m a whiz.
I also sending my thanks. My ‘Opps #007 gmail issue’ arose 2 days ago om Windows 10 with Explorer 11. With Avast webshield off - no issue. Load HTLM basic gmail - no problem. Google search found the error but just the normal suggestions like empty cache, check up to date software etc.
I also note in the Avast general form this solution has also not been posted as of yesterday. Thanks again
