consrv.dll - help?

I was going through the internet and i noticed this was a problem. The folder this is at is “C:\Windows\System32”

I want to prevent any future problems with my computer, and so far things aren’t looking good. It’s getting somewhat unresponsive and slow, and I can’t even run or install some anti-viruses. Plus, Windows Firewall and Defender don’t work.
Pretty sure the consrv.dll has to do something with it.

I ran all the scans in this link: ^
and the consrv.dll has been stated as “suspicious”
I can’t remove it.

Help will be greatly appreciated. :slight_smile:
My logs of all the different scans are below:

also attach a malwarebytes quick scan log…remember to update MBAM before scan :wink:

one of the malware removers will check your logs when they arrive later today

and the consrv.dll has been stated as "suspicious"
upload suspicious file(s) to www.virustotal.com and test with 40+ malware scanners when you have the result, copy the url and post it here for us to see
and I can't even run or install some anti-viruses.

Hi there, first I will need you to download some registry fixes to your desktop. Keep them until the completion of the runs on this page.
Click the Globe under my Avatar and this will take you to my skydrive, download Meats reg files zip folder

After you run the various fixes you may not be able to get online. This will be the time to unzip the four registry files and merge them into your registry. Do not do this until all other programmes have completed. To merge right click the registry files on the desktop and select merge, accept the warnings. Reboot and the net should be available again

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
File:: C:\Windows\SysNative\tfsnudfa.dll C:\Users\James\Documents\dirt3.jpeg

NetSvc::
hpgate

Driver::
hpgate

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exeWhen finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Here is my Malwarebytes log and Combofix log:

How is the computer behaving now ?

Could you run a fresh Farbar scan please

Can’t thank you enough, the fix worked and was able to remove the dll.
Now my windows firewall/defender works again. I will be referring to this site more often.
Thank you very much again, much appreciated!

Can’t let you go until I remove the tools and tidy up ;D

Subject to no further problems :slight_smile:

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :thumbsup:

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
