Constant need to reboot message

Hi

I have v17.4.2294 build 17.4.3482.0 currently. However, each time I have started or restarted the computer and opened the Avast interface I see a message that a reboot is required. Also, the update information shows the date of the definitions loaded as the date the software was installed (06.06.17), even though separately it tells me that the latest update was today. My recent reinstallation of Avast was because the previous one also told me that it was up to date, but the definitions were dated several days previously. Up until recently all had been operating correctly. Any ideas or solutions?

Any help most welcome.

Many thanks

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Hi

It’s Avast Free on a 64bit Windows 7 Pro machine. Always used Avast on this machine with no problems until 25.05.17 when the definitions appeared to fail to automatically update.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

Hi

Will try that. Many thanks to both of you.
