Constant Software Updates?

I run 2 browsers on my laptop. My primary browser is Chrome, but I do have IE installed that I use for certain things.

I’ve only had avast for a few days, and EVERY SINGLE DAY it has prompted me to install “Critical Updates” for IE. Today it has 66 UPDATES! Plus some non-critical ones. After every installation of updates, it wants me to reboot.

Is this normal?! I have never had a security program that did this.

Yes, it is normal if you didn’t kept your system up-to-date.

Workaround would be to directly get updates you need @ Windows Update.
