Constant threat detected alerts

Hi all. Since I updated to Avast Free 2016, I am constantly getting threat alerts. Sometimes the process is Firefox, but mostly it is in C:/Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe

I’ve run Avast full scan and Malwarebytes but they don’t find anything nasty. I’ve also run ADWCleaner, which did find some stuff but that is cleared now and I’m still getting constant alerts. It’s the same websites all the time (around four of them; one of them being Livegoal.net) but the alerts are only threat detected (and blocked) which seems good?. Is this just the update of Avast being more in your face and can I ignore the alerts as Avast is blocking them? Or is this something that needs fixing?

Thanks

Will be posting logs for this issue as recommended from different version of this post, but I do have news. Whilst looking at my sound mixer for a totally different reason, I noticed that I had 2 incidents of Windows(C) register server running as volume controls…? (See Attachment). Pretty sure they shouldn’t be there. So I updated Malware Bytes software to version 2.x (I had been running an old version of the app but with up to date definitions) and it found a root kit exploit and loads of PUP’s It dealt with all those and, after re-booting, I haven’t had the problem since (fingers crossed). The 2 weird register server volume controls have also now disappeared, so, hopefully, that’s sorted now.

OK. Here are the logs. As posted above, hopefully Malware Bytes has fixed the problem now, but would be good for someone to have a look.

Thanks again.

Looks like MBAM killed it all  Normally it leaves the JS behind

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

CreateRestorePoint: HKLM-x32\...\Run: [TQ566808] => "D:\Setup.exe" Reg: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local /f Reg: reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local /f RemoveProxy: EmptyTemp: CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

Here’s the log from FRST. Thanks.

Any further problems ?

Fingers crossed, all seems well. I haven’t had a virus or other threat that has caused me this much trouble in 10 years. I was surprised that my older version of Malware Bytes didn’t find or deal with the problem as the definitions were fully up to date. Still: seems fixed now. Thanks for all your help. Really appreciate it.

You had the latest variant of poweliks, http://www.techadvisory.org/2015/01/what-is-poweliks-and-why-should-you-care/ this is continually mutating and evades all antiviruses. MBAM has tried since it came out and appears to have a cleaning routine for this one now

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

Thanks again essexboy. Before I run it, what does the reset system settings option do in Delfix? Should I expect any changes to my setup?

No that just ensures that system files are hidden as normal, as some tools change that to unhidden
