Recently I neede to contact Avast by phone and found on their website(orwhat I thought was it) an 0800 number which I called. I was answered by a caller who said the company Orion represented Avast and provided their support. he then proceeded to chack my computer for viruses and claimed it was much infected and I should let them clean it up. Also I should pay them £over £100 per year to provide security and protection.
This is a scam and it appears Avast site has been hijacked to fool accounts calling Avast for help. Be warned.

I am sorry for your bad experience, could you please give me more information about what number and when you called? Also if you can give me website where you found the offer. Quite often there are companies claim to be avast official support and have nothing to do with us.

the avast website makes it clear that the phone-support is for issues relating to the avast program… it is not for helping people with removing malware from their computers…
