Continual threat warning

I am getting a continual warning of a threat being detected and it doesn’t seem to matter which site I go to. Earlier this morning I was online and had no problems. Then I stopped and downloaded my email through a little program I’ve had for a long time called PopTray. I opened one of my advertisement emails and went to that site to sign in and check out the add and received this warning. Then I tried going to Amazon again, where I had been earlier with no problems, and got the warning again. I have since tried several other of my normal sites and have received this warning, including on this forum site.

On the warning window it always seems to show the same thing under “Object” and “Infection” but apparently does change a bit under “Process.” One that just opened up while on this site showed the “Process” as RocketDock.

I have included 2 screenshots, one of the warning and one of what it showed when I clicked on the “Details.” Can anyone help me with this?

The process accessing malcious URL is called Poptray

check your control panel>>add remove programs>>find and select PopTray>>uninstall it and reboot.

then check how it works out! ;D

I haven’t been here for a while and I don’t see any edit button, so I’m replying to my own post so that I can send you another warning. When I clicked to “Post” the above I got the avast warning and this one shows the “Process” as RocketDock so I wanted those looking at this to see a screenshot of this.

True Indian: As I mentioned in my first post, the process isn’t always PopTray. As indicated in the second screenshot submittal I made, when it pops up on this avast forum site it shows that the Process is RocketDock. Therefore, I think the answer is not as simple as removing PopTray.

Also, I have used PopTray for at least two years and now suddenly it has become malicious? And what about RocketDock? Is that suddenly malicious too?

it does not say it is malicious....... avast is blocking a connection attempt to a blacklisted url

that can also be a False Positive ?

Pondus: I have reposted this under the virus section. I googled this and found a lot of entries and it was talking about a rootkit infection, among some other things.

The warning does say “Malicious URL blocked.”

I went to all of the links you gave. They seem to say that this superfish.com is a safe site. I don’t understand all this. I don’t know anything about superfish.com. I just know I started getting these popups and now they seem to have stopped as suddenly as they started. Why were they targeting PopTray and RocektDock as the process?

Anyway, does the fact that the pop ups stopped indicate that I am safe. In Googling there seemed to be all kinds of dastardly things listed, as I said one of them being a rootkit infection.

The warning does say "Malicious URL blocked."
yes it does......that is usually why URLs get blacklisted......if correct but you said malicious "pop tray" and "rocket dock"

attach the logs from Essexboys guide (in your new virus and worms post) and let essexboy have a look inside

Sorry to say that the warning is back. Please see these two new screenshots – one the warning box and the other the details. Now it says the process is Firefox.

I’m going back now to the link you gave me for Essenboy.

It says Firefox since that’s the browser you’re using. Still a blockage of a possible infected link.

Surely there has to be a cure for this. These large red warning windows just keep popping up no matter what I do online.

I attached most of the logs requested by Essexboy under the virus section but I am not getting any answers, and in the meantime I’m fighting against these warnings. The only sites I’m going to are my often used and trusted sites. I don’t know what to do.

You did get an answer:
