Basic firewalls like TPF and ZA3.7 are only as secure as the user’s ability to decide what to allow or not to allow. In that sense they remain no less effective than they ever were. Of course, more sophisticated firewalls with extra features will provide extra security.

Something says me that it couldn’t be so easy… I mean, I’m not a software developer but I can’t imagine that they only improve GUI and cosmetic things as time goes by. Some improvements (for security) aren’t present on the oldest versions. Again, I can only guess and imagine, using common sense, but I can’t assure what I’m thinking.
