Continuous Loop on AV

Good Morning,

I see I’m not the only one that’s having similar problems but here’s what happens to me. Avast runs a background scan and finds problems, and returns messages about them. Each of them is labeled as an invalid context. Things like the app manager, Gmail and even AVAST!! Yes, it thinks it is a problem itself. Oh, and the virus definition update is also invalid. So, either the AV database was hacked and you accidentally pushed out malicious definition packages, OR you have introduced a nasty bug with this latest update. Timewise, this started this morning (1/29/13).

Until this is fixed, AVAST is uninstalled and I will recommend everyone I know who has it do the same. Please get on this as I really want to reinstall.

Best,

cmonster

Hello,

the latest virus definitions got corrupted. We already took them down and are working on releasing a fixed version, but it might take a bit more time to do so just hang on, please. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

regards,
Werner

Hi,

it’s already fixed. You can try manually updating the definitions (AMS-Settings-Updates-Check for updates now) or you can wait for the app to pick them up automatically. If it says the definitions are invalid then there is most likely a problem with your Internet connection. Trying again few times should do the trick (I just personally checked that the files are fine on all our servers).
