Continuous Threat Detection Warning

Today I was on a regular site and I got an Avast Threat Detection Warning. I thought it was strange as it was in the middle of it, after I was on there for a while. Then on another trusted site, I got the same Warning again. I then shut the computer down, restarted it and ran a Quick Avast Scan. Thought that it would take care of it, but it keeps happening. No matter what I’m on the Warning keeps coming and it always has the same info listed. I even got a couple just now typing this. I never had this problem before and wondering what it means and how do I fix it? The Warning states “Malicious URL Blocked”.

I have a paid Avast program.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Countrified.

Could you attach a screenshot of the alert ?

Go here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

and attach ( Do not copy/paste ) logs for malwarebytes’, AdwCleaner, OTL, and aswMBR.exe here.

Because of time differences it may take a while to get an answer from one of the malware removal experts.

Appreciate the reply.

Here is a copy of the Threat Blocked:

Infection Details
URL:http://www.tocmp.cam/favicon.ico
Process: C:\Program Files\MSN\MSNCoreFiles\msn.ex…
Infection: URL:Mal

(I switched it to .cam instead of .com)

You can deactivate that link yourself. Only change ( edit ) http:// for hXXp://.

Thanks.

I thought about switching it before I read your reply. (Read note that .com got changed to .cam)

I didn’t like the danger of it.

Thanks for the message. hXXp sounds like a better idea. I’ll remember that for next time.

Thanks

Thank you.

read this link: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

and attach the logs requested. Most malware removal experts are located in Europe so you will not have an answer until tomorrow, but the logs will be ready for them to analize.

I’ll be watching closely for the solution to this one. I’m in the same boat except the regular site happens to be my own. I have 3 different computers here with 3 different means of protection (I am the only one running Avast) and I’m the only one being blocked from my own website.

iroc9555,

OK Thanks.

Also just for a little extra info, I just completed an Avast Full Scan and it had “0” infected files.

I’ll read up on it, but I may need some help from my wife and/or son to do everything right.

Thanks again.

Helln_HiHeels,

Sounds like a headache. Other than my Detection Warnings keep popping up, everything else seems to be OK.

Helln_HiHeels welcome to avast! forum.

Never follow procedures and solutions that look like your problem. Most of the time it is not the same infection and the procedure given to another member may do most harm than good to your comp.

It is better to open your own topic and write down the URL that is/are being detected by Avast!. Please do write them inactive. Edit http:// for hXXp://. There are members here that can give you an idea of why Avast! is alerting your web page or if it is just a false/positve.

You are welcome.

The instructions are mostly straight forward. Since Avast! did not find anything, you may start with downloading, installing, and updating malwarebytes’ ( MBAM ). You may run a quick scan and attached the log it generated.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

and then follow the rest of the guide.

Good luck

I notified Malware experts to keep an eye on the topic for when you are ready with the logs.

Update: I woke up this morning, started the computer and no more Threat Warning Pop-Ups. Was monitoring it for about 3 hours. Started up again tonight and it’s been a good 1/2 hour and still no Warnings. Besides the problem no longer there, everything else seems fine.

Should I call it self-solved (maybe with Avast Updates help) or should I still be worried about something?

Thanks

May be a false/positve generated by the VPS, but since you said that Avast! alerted it visiting different web sites, and if it were my comp, I still would like to know if I am really clean.

Better follow instructions and attached logs.
