Secure browser has updated and deleted all my saved cookies from websites, how can I get them back?
The cookies file is intact in AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\Default\Network
Hello ‘’ welcome to the Avast Community
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member. I also don’t use the Avast Secure Browser.
Unless you saved your ASB settings before the update, I don’t know if they are saved. However sites would be updating their cookie settings. I use Firefox and I can block certain types of cookies (third party sites) and manage exceptions. I don’t know if there are similar settings in ASB.
How to Backup your Avast Secure Browser settings:
- Avast Sync allows you to share your bookmarks and browser history across devices and platforms using end-to-end encryption, which keeps your data secure and private.
Hello, thanks for your reply. I do have sync enabled but I’ve realised it doesn’t include cookies. This is the second time this has happened I’ll just move to firefox. ASB sucks.
You’re welcome.
I don’t actually save cookies as such and I don’t know why you would want to do this as site cookies can change frequently.
The manage Exceptions in Enhanced Tracking Protection, is essentially allowing some sites to use cookies. I don’t believe they are physically saved, just that that site is allowed use cookies and the ‘Custom Cookies’ determines what cookies are allowed to do.
So I’m not entirely sure it would do what you hope.
That said I’m not entirely sure what/why you need to save cookies ?
