I have a small organisation using Avast Pro where the central “file server” is a Win98 machine.
They have noticed problems with performance, and I believe that the problem relates to Avast scanning a large Access database that is stored on the “file server” and accessed frequently from each machine.
By adding the path of the file to the Standard Shield Advanced list of exclusions, performance returns to normal (which is why I believe that the “problem” occurs due to the scanning).
My question is, is it possible to migrate these exclusion settings from machine to machine.
Looking at the doco for Avast.INI, there is an EXCLUDE option; from the description, this sounded like what was wanted, but when I look at the INI file on the machine I have been working on, the Exclude option is blank.
Where is this exclusion list stored? Is it, in fact, possible to copy this setting to each machine, or do I have to do it manually on each one?
(I should add, there are actually around 12-13 MDB files stored on the “server”, each in a different mapped drive, so it is not really just a case of entering 1 value on each machine - rather around 12 of them - and there are 12 machines (well, actually 11 left) on which to do this - hence my question).
Thanks
It’s the Exclude value here:

You will have to add it into avast4.ini file.
Thanks, I had wondered, but looking on the machine I setup, there was nothing in this key value.
Will try it out.
