I changed my mouse settings to make it more responsive and when I restarted it froze on the Windows XP loading bar (there was no hard drive activity) so I pressed the restart button on my computer tower and chose to revert back to last known good settings (which resetted the changes made to my mouse) and it booted fine.
Should I run scandisk to check for corruption or should I be fine? (reason I ask is that when I forced a restart there was no hard drive activity light active)
In what circumstances should I run scandisk?
Would corrupt files show up in an Avast scan and how does Avast sometimes know they are corrupt when it hasn’t got prior information on the file state?
