Corrupted Avast installation, can't get rid of it.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Asus N56VZ, free Avast.

I made some changes to the system which I needed to roll back, and sadly Avast updated it’s version right before the Restore point. After I restored, Avast died, it lost its service and some of the files. Trying to open AvastUI, uninstall it normally, install another version of Avast on top (using online installer) or use your Avast uninstall utility from under safe mode causes the system to freeze.

Please advise. Is it safe to use Revo Uninstaller to delete all files of Avast from the system? (I’m pretty sure avast lost its self-protection) If not, what are my options? I absolutely love Avast and vastly prefer it to all other antiviruses around, wouldn’t want to stop using it.

Revo is using the applications uninstaller.
It will not work if the uninstaller is not working.

Remove everything manually (folders/files/registry entries)

Best option is to delete manually and then run Revo or Ccleaner to get rid of everything I couldn’t get? If yes, thank you, I’m anxious to get Avast back to working condition!

As I said, Revo is using the applications uninstaller.
If you have removed everything manually, avast is not even shown in the list that Revo shows.

Oh, sorry, I just meant that there is manual removal in Revo, which checks for leftover files after everything else is gone.

Thank you for your help!

All 3rd party uninstallers are NOT suitable for antivirus and firewall, etc.
Every program that is deeply embedded in the system needs to be uninstalled by a dedicated uninstaller.

The issue is the “dedicated uninstaller” of Avast doesn’t remove everything.

I got the uninstaller to work by removing the avast folder! It seems it removed most everything else. Finally, I can reinstall it.

Thank you for your suggestions!
