The Drive Genius tech support responded with the following: “Drive Genius watches the system log file for these OS errors and reports them. The errors that you listed are minor, but if they are recurring then I would say that some 3rd party software may be at fault (something like an Anti Virus product that hooks deep into the system may be involved).”
These errors were present on 3 different Mac computers, all running Lion 10.7.4, and all running avast! free for Mac at the latest program revision and virus database. Is it possible that avast! could be involved in this situation? I’m just bring it to your attention, and not implying or accusing in any way. As I’ve stated in other posts, I love your program. I have not as yet tried to remove avast! to see if the behavior persists without avast! on the systems, but this would probably be one of my first troubleshooting steps. One that I rather would not take, as I feel much more comfortable with your antivirus program protecting my systems.
I am very interested if you can add any information to the Drive Genius tech’s comments. Thanks for any response regarding the above.
