Could not believe this

I today got my EXCEL.EXE moved to chest.

Earlier I reported about a short story that was considered dangerous and moved to chest.
I moved it back and excluded it from Avast scanning and nothing has happend since then (some years ago).
No comment has been received from the Avast support, which got the short story (very good by the way).

How many years ago was it?
And what is the point of your post? ???

Dear Paranoid,

the point is to be found in the first sentence plus the heading.

And? ???

You really haven’t given enough information to go on.
If there is an issue, what is it?

Seriously?

I today got my EXCEL.EXE moved to chest.

That’s just about the most blatant false positive I have ever heard of from any security program. I don’t see that it needs any further information.

But we do have to ask if liberty55 reported it as a false positive.

Read my reply in another topic, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=147135.msg1068263#msg1068263. Does that help ?

Just FYI
Excel, Word, Powerpoint,`Outlook from Office 2003 work for me just fine on v9 of avast with reputation, deepscreen and hardened-aggressive ON.

EXCEL.EXE has in the past been a used as a dangerous virus file.

Maybe avast is seeing this as a vulnerability, is your copy of Office up to date?

Hello,
extract the file from virus chest and send it to virus@avast.com with “False positive” in email subject, please.

Thank you,
Milos

Define “up-to-date”.

I use Office 2003 with all security updates, and I would be supremely pissed off if avast! sent my excel.exe to the bin, as Excel is the Office app I use most.
