I had just confirmed my email addy with registration of FREE version. Attempted to add my second email addy and it would not accept it because it is in use, yea by me. Where would I go to get them to link my two email addies to the same account.
I’m not entirely clear what it is that you are trying to achieve here.
Where are you trying to add this second email address ?
If this is totally about logging into the avast support site, then I have registered their and I use the same email address that I use for the forums.
Now I have just logged in their, but it has been some considerable time since I registered and I forgot my password. That resulted in the this email address is in use, so I asked for my password to be emailed. I received that email and was then able to log in successfully.
Try logging in again when it fails try having the password emailed to that email address of yours.
Excuse me, again, as that was getting a little late at night and my brain was getting a little foggy(for me that is normal). When I registered my FREE version of Avast! this time, went into my ‘Profile’ to enter my info and in there they provide a place for you to enter a secondary email addy, I did and it was rejected as it is in use. Yes it is in use by me. The first time I started using Avast! that address was used, later I started using my alter ego addy, the one I registered with this time. I would like to move the other email addy to this profile, to whom do I send a message to have the other addy removed and close that other account so I can add it to my present register.
The “Support” had been entered in error because I had just attempted to access that area and had not registered for the support site yet and my brain led me to enter the incorrect subject. Sorry about the confusion . .
Well in the avast installation that you want to connect to the alter ego my.avast account and from the avastUI > Settings > Account and Disconnect. Next Connect again, you will get a sign in with either facebook or email.
Using the email will get the ‘this is in use’ and you have to enter the password. Now it should be connected to that account.
If you go back into the original (unwanted) my.avast account you should be able to delete the Device (installation) you have just added to the alter ego one.
DavidR,
Thank you for this information, will do just that probably a little later. Have another project underway and when I am done will do. Also will report here when done so this can be closed.
Just logged in under the other account and do not see a feature to delete the account.
Just found same, DELETED, it is now gone, Problem solved, thank you “DavidR” . .
You’re welcome.
