I just downloaded and installed avast 4.8 home edition… It does not run the bootscan after checking the box on the restart notification… Program also could not start after double clicking the shortcut icon on my desktop… I am using Win XP professional serv. pack 3. Please help.

what other security products(SP) do you have other than avast! av ?
before avast what SP did you have? - how did you remove?.

I’m 32 bit windows.
I uninstalled AVG and norton respectively using the add/remove program
I also tried using the nss removal tool.
did you try avg remover?
