Hi,

Clutching at straws here, so just need someone to check it for me please? :slight_smile: Could you go to the BBC News site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/ and try to watch a news broadcast using the WMP plug-in? (I’m using WMP 11 on XP Pro). I can’t get any broadcasts at all and the BBC helpdesk are not being very responsive. Is it possible that Avast web scanning could cause a problem with streaming video like this? I’m wondering about ‘Exceptions’ in the web scanner of some sort… I can use the WMP plug-in on other sites incidentally…

Anyway, it may be a ‘red herring’ and just that it’s broken at their end - be nice to have that confirmed! Thanks very much in advance…

Thanks, but I tried the suggestions at that thread and it made no difference. Going to ask my ISP to look at it…

Go ahead and remove this thread if need be. After some consultation with my ISP, it seems to be a network issue - nothing to do with Avast :slight_smile: Thanks…

The threads stay for posterity they may help others suffering a similar problem showing that it may also be another cause. The topic will just fade into the background unless others contribute to it.

I followed the instructions at that thread (see attached) and even rebooted. Unfortunately it makes no difference, still no WMP11 streams at all (bar one on Sports). Real Alternative plugin working fine…

I’m guessing your with Tiscali if you are its an issue with them I have the same problem mate
