Could Someone please help!

I would like to download and install the new Advast and I need the directions please. Do I uninstall my 4.8 version first? Do I register the new one to get another licience? I have Vista 64 bit. Is there a special version of Advast 5 I have to install. Your guidance would be well appreciated. I am running the free version. Thank you.

Are you looking to install the free version or Premium Trial? If its the free one it is always best to remove the old version first. The new Avast has a registration window built in that is very easy to fill in. Registration is a snap… :o ;D

You should be able to install 5.0 over 4.8 (if it is the same type, e.g. 4.8 home to 5.0 free or 4.8 pro to 5.0 pro), that way it retains your existing registration/license information and also uninstalls 4.8 before installing 5.0.

Oh My God, I have had three different reply’s. Which one is correct. Do I uninstall my free 4.8 first? Then Install the free Advast5. Do I use the uninstall utility after I uninstall 4.8 from my control panel.

You gave me two links for the download. Which one is correct for my Vista 64 bit. Sorry but I don’t understand which one I am suppose to download. Thank you.

Vista 64 bit

No, you don’t need to uninstall.
Download this: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe
Just download and install.
Then reboot.

No need to ask or guess any more, just follow what Zyndstoff and I have said. That is the recommended procedure from Alwil software, install 5.0 over 4.8, that deals with everything in one action.

DavidR… I love you! ;D

Hi Zyndstoff,

I can’t thank you enough. I did exactly what you suggested and installed it smoothly without any problems. You are indeed helpful and kind. Have a good day.

Regards Lily

Good to hear that it went well.
Have fun.
