My computer keeps crashing bad today I am getting errors for my hard drive and smart drive 
My OS Is winXP sp2 any info that you can give me would greatly be appreciated.

But remember always to ensure that you have a backup of your registry before you make any changes - and it is always a good idea to have a backup of your system (just in case).

What were the error messages ?
What were you doing when it crashed ?
How old is your system (I could be your hard drive is on the way out and as Alan mentions ensure you backup your data) ?
Check this thread Links (for almost everything…) there may be some registry cleaners there and a forums search for registry cleaners should return some hits as this has been discussed previously.
Thank you for the free links and info. I bought this computer the day win XP hit the market…2000 or 2001…and yes I am too afraid that my hard drive is going I’m off to make a back up quick like…it had crashed before i logged into windows this morning and has crashed 2 other times since then

error messages about my nvidia driver crashing also my smart drive and hard drive crashing messages as well…not sure yet how I managed to get this back up and running…hope it stays for awhile.
When you use a registry cleaner be sure to only manually delete the entries you know for a fact are no longer needed. Don’t just hit the delete all button. A registry cleaner lists entries it thinks are no longer needed by seeing wether the registry entry has an associated directory or file at the time of the scan even though later they may be needed. Deleting registry entries you need can have consequences for the performance of your machine.
I suggest the last freeware version of j16PowerTools (http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/files/RegCleaner.zip).
You can select green and red items to be deleted.
