Hi Wizards, I received an email from my internet provider (Cox) stating that my computer may have been infected with Alureon/TDSS virus.
I ran MBAM and it detected 0 malware, however when I ran it yesterday it quarantined PUP MINDSPARK. I deleted it and todays scan did not find it again.
I ran ASWMBR and saved that log but I’m unsure it’s complete.
My son is concerned that it might still be infected and it’s better to be safe than sorry. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you so much.
Hello,
They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I’ll be working with you.
There is no evidence of such a serious threat in your reports like Alureon, but there is some malware we need to get rid of from your machine.

Good morning TwinHeadedEagle Thank you for your help. Of the listed unwanted programs, the only 3 my computer
let me see are Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar updater, and Download Updater (aol llc). Ask Toolbar will not let me uninstall. >:( Error message reads
“All Chrome browser windows should be closed in order to complete the uninstallation. Please close all Chrome
browser windows. Click OK if you are ready to proceed with the uninstallation” . I closed all windows, clicked ok
and it simply brings the same error message. I restarted the computer and tried again but no luck. I’m also curious as to why I can’t see My Web Search (Webfetti) and ShopAtHome.com Helper. :-[ Should I proceed with your instructions or wait until Ask Toolbar and his lame friends ShopAtHome and Webfetti can be uninstalled?
Please follow the instructions > Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Thank you Eddy. Done and done. MBAM didn’t detect anything. Attaching the fixlog and the mbam scan.
It is okay. How is your PC behaving now?
It’s running great 8) Thank you so much for your help The Ask Toolbar remains in my program files, is there a way to get rid of it? I also have 2 smart phones and 1 surface that are all using the same router. Should I be worried about them?
Can you try to uninstall it now?
Same error message, even though I close all browser windows. It won’t uninstall.
