I have Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1474, it’s worked fine for many years in all previous versions, but now I can’t see fine videos in Youtube, I have constant lags.
When I want to see a video in Youtube, the Avast Icon starts to move, Avast is scanning the video ( Flash Player 11.7 ) and the avastsvc.exe process is in 30-40%CPU every 5-10 seconds more or less.
I use Firefox 21 that has a plugin-container.exe which works 50-60% CPU constant when I see a video, only in Youtube. ( I suppose so Flash Player plugin ).
I have a high use of CPU so I have a constant lags in sound and video when avastsvc.exe process up to 40% CPU or more several times per video. ( CPU works 100% ).
I have a Pentium IV and I’ve never had problems, only now, since two or three weeks ago.
I’ve this problem in all webs that uses Flash Player, but specially in Youtube. It’s a web that I always visit.
Run the Avast uninstall tool. Be sure to select the correct version you are removing and point it to the installed directory.
Reboot.
Install Avast 8.0.1489.300.
Thanks. When viewing YouTube its not uncommon for your processor usage to go up. Mine does even on my pc’s with no antivirus. Streaming YouTube videos is heavily dependent upon your internet connection.
