CPU consuming

Hello everybody,

Avast is installed on 2 of my 3 PC. One with XP sp2, the other with VISTA Ultimate.
It is CPU consuming, so that I have problems with my programs, especially with Outlook.

I installed AVAST without changing any parameter, it is standard.

Nothing special in the Task manager, except that the CPU is rising to 60 percent when no programs are running, execpt AVAST.

Any idea for me ???

Is the avast icon turning ?
If so it is scanning something.

Which system does this happen on or is it both ?

If your inbox contains a large number of emails this could contribute to this activity if archive emails and email bodies are being scanned, see image. It isn’t advisable to use the inbox for general email storage, so more to a more appropriate folder according to the email content.
