I have found an adware program on my own that when I terminate the process it stops the ad overlay and I don’t have an issue again for at least 24 hours but then it starts up again even if I deleted the exe and blocked the folder from being edited. I have found a way to block the adware by banning it from starting via registry. I would like avast to block it but I am content to do avast’s work in this matter
Is PUP detection enabled in Avast…!?
Test the file at VT (https://www.virustotal.com) and post the link to the result here.
Hi Bob, I’d suggest to activate the overall PUP detection.
Avast GUI → Settings → General
Personally I have never enabled this, part of the reason I have the web shield scan for PUPS by default. The other, PUPs aren’t something I’m overly concerned about.
