I’m thinking switching to other antivirus software for the time being.

switched on computer this morning, all ok then upgraded avast! as popup suggested… system crashed, would not reboot… can’t seem to do anything at present??? about to install Ubuntu as last resort… at least i’ll have my computer back
Installed version 7 on Win 7 64 bit; everything blocked soon after reboot; not even task manager was active. Tried 3 reboots: nothing to do.
I finally rebooted in diagnostic mode, uninstalled Avast 7 and everithing worked again!! This happend following the Avast PopUp to update urgent to new vrersion …
@Roytam1,
You could upload the dumps to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/, using a unique file name, like for example roytam1_avast7_dmp01.zip (or *.7z). Add both dumps and a link to this topic in the same archive.
Where should I look for dumps after uninstalling Avast?
Windows dumps: C:\Windows\Minidumps or C:\Windows\Memory.dmp
avast! dumps (if not removed while uninstalling): C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log
Neither dump available. If it can help you, my Avast free SW was not installed (E:) on the volume where Windows resides (C:)
The system freezed without any I/O operations.
Waiting for a solution I am testing Av…ra on the same system
