I only have the free version, and the instructions on the web are for the paid version.
I never paid for it for over 10 years or so, and in the past, I had a USB booting drive.
is there a way to do it from the web site?
It is possible from Avast Free, however - As in your case as far as Iām aware this isnāt possible as:
- It has to be initiated from the Avast UI
- Avast running before boot time scan runs has to download information, instruction set and virus definitions, etc.
hi, THANK YOU,
but I am able to down load any new info while in windowsā¦
I have one computer that IS internet connected,
then I have one that is for video-no internet
and one photo, no internet
I want to make sure they do not have viruses from other peopleās USB drives.
I still donāt think that will work, as I said:
If Avast isnāt on that system then as far as Iām aware it canāt be initiated from (the Avast UI) that system.
Where are you getting these instructions
the instructions on the web are for the paid version
yeh, well, it USED to be free, not any more
just like everything else
thank you !
Well, if you have Avast installed on your internet-available machine, you can make bootable USB thumb. That is what DavidR said.
thank you for trying to clear it up for me,
but I have the āfreeā version, and a USB can be done only on the paid version
unless if you tell me how
I explored what I think is most of the features and could not find it.
I did not go into tabs that āseemed to meā not relvenet to creating a USB.
so if you would be so kind to tell me under what tab/area I can create a bootable USB with
the āfree versionā
OKā¦
- Plug an USB thumb drive larger than 2GB
- Open Avast UI
- Go to Protection => Virus Scans => Rescue Disk
- Click āCreate on USBā. If your PCs are relatively new, enable āUse UEFI ā¦ā option.
- Follow instructions
I really DO appreciate your patience with me and the help you give.
however, I do not have Avast " UI" I have Avast 'ONE" and the photo you show me, I do not get, I get the one shownā¦ at this avast link, a bit down the pageā¦
you do not have to click on the link, just go to Avast.com and look for the free version
it offers the āavast oneā version. I think it is a newer version than the āavast UIā
and it does not have a USB creatorā¦ non that I can find.
not sure if there is a way to switch, I could not find a down load for UI version that is free
I see, you have Avast One Essentials (free), not Avast Antivirus Free. Itās a different product, both free but have different feature sets.
And I canāt find Rescue Disk even for paid version of Avast One. It looks like Rescue disk is completely omitted from it.
I think you have to use another āfreeā antivirus in order to create Rescue disk for now.
You have this one, right?
I see what you mean. Avast.com āFree downloadā button points to Avast One.
However, if you hunt around that webpage under the Security tab, you will find Avast AV Free Download, which should (does in UK) match this link: Download Free Antivirus Software | Avast 2024 PC Protection
LOL at least now I know I am ānot that much crazyā LOL
thank you.
it sounds like the āavast antivirus freeā might be more substantial than āesentialsā
would I have to uninstal the āoneā version to switch? and can i get the full free version ?
YES, I have the one pictured above.
Avast One Free and Avast Antivirus Free are separate avast products. They have slightly different components included within them.
You would have to uninstall Avast One Free then install Avast Antivirus Free, if that suits your needs better.
yes, that is what I did/do/done LOL
I followed rocksteadyās link to the avast anti free, I down loaded that one,
I uninstalled the āavast oneā and installed the āA A Fā and explored it to find the
ācreating a bootable rescue USBā and completed that
THANK YOU EVERY ONE !!!
Youāre welcome - glad that you stuck with it.
Youāre welcome, glad to see it works
