Curious about the spam thing

I’ve thought about this long and hard and just cannot work it out.

Why did people open the spam email? Even more confusing, why did they click on those links in the body of the email?? ???

I’m genuinely interested/curious/perplexed/puzzled.

Thank you.

Hi Kakapo,

I did not click on any of the links because it was obvious to me that no one at awil would send out such garbage.

But, I guess some did click on the links. Kind of a dumb thing to do unless you want to be infected by some type(s) of malware. Well, some just never learn, I guess.

What was even worse, one dummy actually posted a picture on the forum in a thread that’s since been deleted.
Like you, I never opened the links but unfortunately when I opened the thread in the forum,
there it was… :-[
I also thought that all the preaching about not opening links to things not asked for and links to places you don’t know
should have helped but, judging by the reaction, it apparently didn’t. :frowning:

Well Kakapo, I guess some people will do anything in spite of knowing better or not. I personally did not have a problem here. Have a nice day.

Simple answer. People click anything (and everything) as long as it has link or attachement. Period. God knows why ::slight_smile:

As for me I use a built-in antispam system of my email service provider & it’s work good, no spam email so far (from the year 2004)

I opened the notice in my email from Alwil. There was no pictures.

There was links, but I did not click on them.

But, my second email had a disgusting picture. (I am armed to the teeth in Avast, and antimalware programs)

I also have GoBack, so in the possibility I got infected, I just reverted to a time before I opened the emails.
