Custom PC Drivers?

When somebody does a custom PC… What Drivers do i need to know about updating… Like does the motherboard have a driver that i’ll need to update or is it just the basic stuff like graphics driver, etc?

Ummmmm… you’re asking about windows drivers in an antivirus forum?

It will vary depending on what the hardware is — LITERALLY could be whatever version of Windows you are installing will have “default” drivers for everything — or they will have none — not even USB to use for downloading updated drivers from another workstation… then you get to burn a CD… oh wait — unless you have a slimbook that doesn’t HAVE a CD… then you have to get real creative.

If you really want to pursue this — then BUY a copy of DriverNavigator - it will scan for missing and OUT OF DATE (per the device MANUFACTURER) drivers and download and let you install updates. Remember - just because MS happens to have a builtin driver doesn’t mean it’s a right/good one. I mean - you’ll have “Generic VGA” installed for 90% of video cards — yes it works… and it sucks too…

Hope that helps…

I guess you didn’t notice the board section “General Topics”

There’s a few good free driver update programs about without having to purchase one, I know Bob3160 has posted about a few on the forum before.

You will need to install the drivers for all hardware that you have.
Motherboard, mouse, monitor, printer, scanner, joystick etc.
Get the latest one from the manufacturers website(s).
