Custom Scans and Blocking Pop-Ups: Resolved

Win 7 Home Premium x64 SP 1
Avast Program: 19.6.2383
Virus Definitions: 190709-4

In the Custom Scans section, there is a ‘Quick Scan’ option listed by default, even though it is not enabled.

Since I did not create a ‘Quick Scan,’ why is it listed under Custom Scans instead of ‘Other Scans?’

Am I missing something?

The Quick Scan is part of Avast and it’s listed under Custom Scans so you can edit its settings.

  1. Why is there a default option to ‘Scan Now’ for a full virus scan in ‘Other Scans’ AND a ‘Scan Now’ option when a full virus scan is scheduled in ‘Custom Scans?’

Since the ‘custom scan’ is a scheduled scan, it is unnecessary to have a ‘scan now’ option when it is already offered as a default in ‘other scans.’

  1. Someone mentioned that pop-ups can be turned off by opening the menu, selecting settings, selecting general, choosing personal privacy, and unchecking the boxes for ‘Show offers for other avast product’ and ‘Show offers for 3rd part products.’

However, the only boxes I see are for ‘share threat information to improve your protection’ and ‘allow usage data to be shared with 3rd parties for analytics.’-Am I missing something?

That’s only available in the paid versions.

Asyn:

  1. In that case, is there an equivalent option in the free version to turn off pop-ups?

  2. Regarding the ‘scan now’ option,’ since the ‘custom scan’ is a scheduled scan, why is it necessary to have a ‘scan now’ option when it is already offered as a default in ‘other scans?’

  1. Nope.
  2. No idea.

Thanks again.

You’re welcome.
