Cyber Defnder got into my sytem and perfomed a search tuning up a “Trojan Horse”. Cyberdefender said it would remove the viruses when I had registered which rquired a purchase of the system.
Questions - is this common? Avast ome made no such findings - need I concern myself with this situation?I undrsand the markting ploy, but I am questyioning the claimed found viruses.
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts!!
I have to question anything that finds stuff and asks for payment to remove it. Added to that your comment that it would appear that you didn’t install this yourself, Cyber Defnder got into my sytem and perfomed a search tuning up a “Trojan Horse”.

There are many rogue programs that throw up fake security alerts and given this report above I would be very suspicious of this.
What was detected, malware name, file name, location, e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page.
