I downloaded and installed this new security suite entirely free and supposed to worked along your current AV. It detected 20 spywares in my registry whereas SpywareTerminator, Adaware, Spybot, SuperAntispyware, a-square detected only… cookies and traces. I haven’t tested it fully so far, but I’m stunned! 8)

Well, thanks David. I knew it wasn’t totally free (enduring some publicity). I’m far from being an expert. This detected exactly the same infections on my computer at home and at work. How strange? May be, same user, same surfing habits… Then I had to stop scanning. Too long… It has resident shield and updates automatically, scans, quarantine, delete, spam, scams, windows updates notification. The installation, at least the first day is annoying, too much updates and installation. If this doesn’t scare you, it’s worth a try.
I can recall something similar were it didn’t matter what you ran it on it always had a slack handful of the same detections, this is the hook to make you feel you need protection. As has been said by many a salesman give a man a headache and sell him an aspirin. So I’m not so sure if this is a co-incidence or by design or a lot of false positives, which if you are talking registry entries could seriously screw your system.
When you paid for it it miraculously it got rid of the problems, it just stopped reporting the problem.
I wouldn’t care if the product was the bees knees, I also don’t like these supposed Jack of all Trades applications that do everything but shine your shoes. There are also more tools out there than you can shake a stick at not to worry about one with a chequered history, but your system, your choice.
Cyber Defender is not suppose to be rogue anymore. Though it is adware supported (meaning it will display ad banners inside its own window when opened).
Deceipt. A full scan scans actually only 1/5 of my total files on drive C:/. I regret I have ever installed it. Then I had one high system alert from Spyware Doctor Zango Search Assistant before December 2004 which stangely was in my Document and settings in a temp folder as a .xls file (an Excel file?). So, may be David is right not to trust it to much. Only thing is that it is available on CNET www.download.com which is supposed to offer software downloads free of any spywares (as they say…). So people, be warned!
And can you explain me why a full antispy scan scans only about 31000 files whereas a full antivirus scan scans 37000! That’s a bad joke…! >:(
Whereas NOD32 in depth FULL scan scanned 296 081 files on this PC in 1 hour or so…!!! I’m getting rid of CyberdefenderFREE. This is a scam. We better erase this topic and I should have tested it thoroughly before posting. Sorry! 
And who knows (Trojans, spywares, worms) what I downloaded. Spybot Search and Destroy already detected 30 registry entries infected by Cyberdefender (they use the same name) and Spybots. Hard to uninstall and that’s not a surprise. I wish CNET takes this out of their web site (were they paid?..)

Every program counts scanned files differently. And i had no problems removing it. Are you sure you were using the right version and not some old which was rogue?
It’s the one at CNET. I posted a negative comment towards Spyware and Trojan addition by this software (and I’m not alone). Upon uninstalling it opens IE7 on a page offering you a robot to remember passwords whereas CyberdefenderFree was to delete them. Is that a joke? I’m serious, do not mess your computer and registry with this. It’s nice but dangerous! Privacy has no price. 
Just finished a complete scan on my C:/ drive with SuperAntispwyware. It too scanned only 27 000 or so files. I know there are 300 000, so, how can they call it complete? Took a good 45 minutes to scan too. May be you’re right but if that’s a feature I’m jealous of it’s the full scan option and at least Avast does the work (it scans 300 000 files).
I have no idea of your settings and I no longer have SAS on my system, but there are many files which are considered low or no risk of infection, so those might well be excluded from scans.
avast’s own on-demand scanner has three different sensitivity levels, Quick, Standard & Thorough, this applies a similar strategy add to this you can also choose to include archive files so there could be many permutations as to the number of files scanned. I can only assume SAS has a similar function.
I removed CYBERDEFENDER 3 weeks ago from this PC. As you may recall, Spybot Search and Destroy found 2 issues with this software. I scanned my pc yesterday with newly installed HijackThis from trendsecure. You can have your log analyzed for free here:http://www.hijackthis.de/fr. It found 1 malware entries in the registry still belonging to Cyberdefenser. This is difficult to get rid of INDEED…! 
Uncheck the options for archive scanning.
