Please run a boot time scan with avast! Open the main scanner screen, right click on the screen and click schedule a boot time scan- reboot when requested. Send any malware found to the chest (quarantine).
If you are still getting the warnings after the scan, tell us the name and location of the malware detected.
Also, to be able to help you, inform:
- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
- What was the filename and path where the virus was found?
- Which actions have you taken to try solving the problem?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?
If you could, post a screenshot of the warning message. To know how, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0
You can use WinSnap to get a screenshot (http://www.ntwind.com/software/winsnap.html).
I’m sure you mean avast! not Avanti.
avast usually alerts ‘Caution, a virus has been detected’ or ‘Caution, potential infection was detected’ it doesn’t say ‘Danger’ so if this what it says it is probably not avast. The audible alert is also accompanied with a visual alert, see image.
So if it isn’t avast then it could well be a rogue program trying to con you into buying some software to rectify a non-existent problem other than the nagging alerts.
If you can be more detailed as requested by the others.
