-Data Filtering- Avast and A/V in General

Hello Everyone,

Today in a tech chatroom, an MS tech made the comment that “Antivirus software will filter out a raw data feed, such as those from Stock Market brokers.” I do not think this is entirely correct, but I am not an A/V or software expert at all. My understanding is the A/V software monitors incoming data without modification, but if the data matches a known malicious pattern, it then blocks it or “filters” it from your incoming data feed. This would include any heuristic algorithms run on the data, of course.

So educate away. Bend, twist or shatter my image of data filtering.

Thanks!

will this help your curiosity?
