I’m having problems with the scanner locking up. I looked in the error logs and found this:
Storage query "Insert into local properties (Object, properties, val) Values (-1996691684, ‘Scanpackers’, All); "failed. Error description: “Database disk image is malformed[11]”
This occurs when scanning the Windows temp file.
Any idea what to do?
Looks file the file that holds the avast settings (\data\avast4.db) somehow got corrupted.
Can you please try to delete the file? It will be recreated (with the default settings) next time you run the program.
BTW the file may be locked by the avast service. Thefore, I’d first recommend stopping the service (Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services).
I seem to have a similar problem with similar error message in error log. two error messages as follows:
5/15/09 9:30:00 PM 1242441000 4278253753 Storage query “INSERT INTO LocalObjects ( Type, Label, Comment, CreationTime, Creator) VALUES (2, ‘???’, ‘’, 1242441000, 0);” failed. Error description: “database disk image is malformed [1]”.
5/15/09 9:30:05 PM 1242441005 4278253753 Storage query “INSERT INTO LocalProperties (Object, Property, Val) VALUES (9, ‘RunTime’, ‘0’);” failed. Error description: “database disk image is malformed [11]”.
I deleted the avast>\data\avast4.db file (after rebooting to DOS in Win98SE), which cleared all my tasks and session history.
My tray ‘a’ icon still shows a red diagonal bar. It just completed a quick scan OK, however the pop up menu items “pause provider, resume provider, stop provider” are greyed out.
I tried to REPAIR the installation thru control/add-remove programs. The repair seemed to run OK to completion.
I did notice when I clicked on virus chest that the program quit responding. Although I just repeated that with no problem.
Anyone have any clues as to what is going on? Thanks.
Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there.
