The past couple days, when I turn my computer, it says my avast isn’t working. After checking the date, the year was wrong and when I change it back to what it should be avast is fine. My question is, is this a glitch with avast or could it be something else?

Your cmos battery is most likely empty. Replace it, set the date/time in the bios and see if it keeps working
Not a glitch with avast, it only checks the system date to ensure that your license/registration is valid, but it doesn’t change the system date.
As Eddy said this is probably system related.
