"Date of last scan"

Hi,

I am running Avast 4.1 Home, VPS 442-3, 4.1.418, WinXp Home, SP2. All updates current. Avast is set to update automatically and does so without a problem. The problem I am seeing is I can tell Avast to do a thorough scan of my system. It does the scan and then tells me what files that are protected it cannot scan. That’s fine, but when I bring up the Avast skin the last scan date showing on it appears to be 9/29/04 and will not show the latest scan date?? I am sure the problem is something simple that I have overlooked. Can anyone help me solve this? Would appreciate it. By the way the VRDB latest date is 10/16/04
Thanks.

Neal, this is an ‘old’ issue (or bug). I tried to search for Date of last scan and match it like a phrase and found a lot of threads about it:

Vlk explanation:

Well… date of last scan in the Simple UI is only updated when a full scan is performed thru Simple UI. That’s correct…

The reason is that in the Enhanced UI it’s difficult to decide whether the scan was really full or not – i.e. to check if the scanning task covered everything it should to qualify for a full scan…

In short: it’s not a bug, it’s a feature…

Technical, Bob, Eddy, I did change what Avast needed to scan as per some of the link info Technical posted to my question. That seems to have done the trick. Thanks to all of you guys for your help ;D I appreciate it. I knew it was scanning but just couldn’t figure out why the date of last scan had not changed, now I know. Thanks again.

Technical,

Here is what I did to solve the problem from reading one of the links you posted where there was the same issue. Here is what I read:

Okay, thanks to Technical posting several links to threads concerning this subject, which I read carefully, I needed to select “all local disks” (both C: and D:) before my Date of last scan would display correctly or in other words the current date of complete last scan of both hard drives.

This solved my problem Technical, Thanks again

Oh, I see…
We already asked a lot of times to change that display text to: Date of the last full scan 8)
Maybe they listen to us ;D

Don’t forget that for most of us, avast doesn’t consider a scan using the folders option as a complete scan (for “latest scan” purposes) even if you select the entire drive(s). For proper updating on the status screen, the scan has to be done with the “local drives” choice even if you have a huge exclusions list.
