David question for you

Since I know you use Firefox maybe you can help me. The only way I can use Firefox today is in Safe Mode. It hangs on me if I try to start it the usual way and the only way I can close it out is with the Task Manager. This just started happening a couple of days ago when I updated Avast. I don’t know that the two had anything to do with the other since I can start Firefox in Safe Mode. The only thing I have running is Avast and Online Armor. Do you know how I can test my extensions to see if it is one of them. I don’t have many - AdBlock Plus, No Script, Always Remember Password, Cookie Culler, Firefox View, Free D/L Mgr Plugin, IE Tab, Paste & Go, and McAfee Site Advisor. Any help will be appreciated.

You don’t say what version of FF you have, so I assume you aren’t using the beta/rc builds but 2.0.0.14. I don’t think there is any easy way other than disable all your add-ons in regular mode if you can get in there to do than.

I have most of the add-ons that you have and more, with the exception of Always Remember Password, Firefox View, Free D/L Mgr Plugin, IE Tab, Paste & Go, and McAfee Site Advisor. So you could always start by disabling those.

Where my system differs is I don’t use Online Armor now I don’t know if that has any spanners in the works, but it may by you have to try creating a different profile (never done that) or you may reinstall firefox and add your essential security add-ons NoScript, AdBlockPlus, Cookie Culler. See if that works and add the add-ons one at a time to see if you can identify the problem one/s.

Thanks David. I ran a check disk scan on my computer and Firefox started with the extensions enabled. I sure don’t understand these computers. You said you didn’t use McAfee Site Advisor. Do you use anything in place of it? Thanks

You can also use The World Browser which is a mightiness broswer!you can try it!
you can use www.baidu.com to reach The World

I use DrWeb link checker to see if there is anything on the site/url. If I want to check a site security ranking (I rarely do) then I use a bookmark for site advisor, the problem with some of these auto link checkers is that they use some of my valuable dial-up bandwidth, when you have so little of it you become very protective of it.

You can test Finjan (http://securebrowsing.finjan.com/index.html) or Scandoo (http://www.scandoo.com/).
