Daylight Savings Time Change In US.....

thought this might help some of you

http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
where it says daylight saving time starts march 11th…how to update your computer…click on that ::slight_smile:

NOTE:
Windows Me and earlier versions are no longer supported and Microsoft is not providing daylight saving time updates for these products.
You’ll have to do it manually of you still have an older system.

Just a curiosity…
What happened with DST in US? Changed the date? Wasn’t it adopted in the past?

The date DST changes has been brought forward by a few weeks I believe. It changes this weekend 11 March 2007.

We’ve had it for decades but now we have an additional 4 weeks at the beginning and 4 weeks the end.

If I am not mistaken, we have an additional 4 weeks total: 3 weeks at the beginning and 1 week at the end.

That’s correct.
Hardly worth all the trouble it’s causing.

Wishful thinking on my part, I guess. I live to be outdoors but I hate the winter darkness :frowning:

One fellow that I talked to a day or so ago said this about the time change. I get up at sunrise, and go to bed at sunset. The time changes don’t mean anything to him he stated. Must be nice. I sure am not going to get up that early or go to bed that early. ;D

For people and animals, an act of Congress means nothing.
Our internal clocks take a long time to adjust regardless what the clock on the wall says. ;D

Is he a farmer? ;D

At the height of winter I wake in darkness, drive to work in darkness, drive home in darkness, and go to bed in darkness. Except for lunch and weekends my daylight hours are spent in an office. The 58 degree weather we had today in Chicago, coupled with the earlier time change, gives me hope. So HANDS OFF :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re right, but it’s Standard Time I can’t get used to. ;D

Same here, but instead of an office, I spend my wintertime “daylight” hours in a level 2 biohazard laboratory with no view of the weather, good or bad. “Sanity Savings Time” with no changes would be a nice change.

Its true, I do have windows. But I bet your “co-workers” are a bit more interesting than mine.

StatsCan reports accident rates go up the first monday after the time change. think I’ll just stay in bed. No, wait, that could be an accident waiting to happen also. :-\

I do find both my work and my co-workers very interesting, to say the least; whether more interesting than yours, I couldn’t say. Still, even a small window (sealed shut of course lol) would be an improvement. I’ll have to make do with jogging around the parking lot at lunchtime, weather permitting.

A nice big LCD or Plasma screen with a nice outdoor screen, mountains, lakes, etc. but then again I guess not much work would get done ;D

Ahhh - just back from a run with my 6 year old tagging along on his scooter. The sweatshirt I wore was actually a little too warm for the weather.

Life is good ;D

Oh, and I’ve already changed my clocks. You can never get too much of a good thing.

True, that might be too much of a good thing. A few pictures (under glass, of course) of those mountains, lakes, etc. could greatly improve the ambience though, make things seem a bit less sterile. One doesn’t usually think of such things in that environment, but it isn’t unreasonable. Thanks for the idea.

Well it’s all over except for the old DST change date in three weeks.
For me, both systems; one Vista one XP changed the time without any problems.
